SURESH WAGHMARE
Suresh Waghmare is an Indian sculptor working in the traditional lost-wax casting technique of central India, a process historically associated with tribal metalwork and ritual practice.
His sculptures, most often tigers, lions, and mythical animals, are defined by their sculptural clarity, textured surfaces, and strong, stylised forms. Each work is individually cast, preserving the immediacy and character of the handmade process.
Balancing inherited technique with a refined sense of form, Waghmare’s sculptures sit comfortably between traditional object and contemporary collectible, offering works of both cultural depth and visual presence.

"the term ‘bell metal’ has come from the making of cow bells — named by researchers who came to the region to study the lost-wax technique of metal casting.
Locally it is called Dhokra craft. The metal itself is an alloy made from scrap — old utensils, taps, pipes, and other waste metals.”
