SHAKIR ALI
Shakir Ali is a contemporary Indian miniature painter working within the long-standing traditions of the Mughal court ateliers. From early training under his father and grandfather, to formal studies in Jaipur, he draws on multiple historic lineages including Mughal, Awadh, Bikaner, and Mewar.
His work is defined by meticulous depictions of animals, courtly scenes, and romantic narratives, executed with traditional precision yet composed for a contemporary audience. Balancing historical rigour with a refined sense of design, Ali’s paintings offer collectors a compelling continuation of the miniature tradition.

“In recent years, we’ve begun doing more realistic work inspired from the natural world but staying true to the technique and detail inherent in Mughal miniature art. I still do traditional Mughal portraiture, court scenes and the depictions of romance, but have added to it — but often work on art that is typical of other schools such as Kangra.”
